Targeting your tech-savvy voter
The campaign process has
become increasingly focused on voter targeting.
What has emerged from increasingly expensive
methods of voter contact is more reliance
on targeted voter contact. As
technology increases in power and usability, the
campaign coordinator has some exceedingly effective
tools to assist in their targeting efforts.
One of the biggest advantages
technology offers a political organization is the
ability to process data extremely fast.
From researching past elections, to
processing voter lists, to utilizing an email
campaign to GOTV, all of this can be integrated into
a campaign strategy. For
example, a database program can assist with or
handle every component previously listed.
In fact, there are many database programs in
existence built specifically for political
campaigns. Some of these
programs are so well built that they can handle
information regarding every facet of targeted voter
contact, from door-to-door, to phone calls, to yard
sign placement, to direct mailings to scanning voter
lists at vote centers.
Campaigns are only
limited by time and money. The
technology of today can allow a campaign to save
both by making the process more efficient and
effective. Instead of waiting
minutes or hours or days for the information that is
needed, with the right tools, it can be analyzed and
acted upon almost instantly.
